At last – “those lazy, hazy, crazy days of summer” have arrived.  We have all been waiting a long time this year for warm and sunny summer days to arrive.  Now that they are finally here, we plan to make the most of them… and they will be anything but “lazy”!

Kathy has an amazing month planned for us.  Do check out the special events below and plan to attend any that interest you.   Remember that our complete monthly Calendar of Events is chocked full of great activities and outings, and is available from our receptionist.

Of course the ladies will all want to freshen up their wardrobes for summertime, so Ozette Fashions will be with us on Tuesday, July 8th  from 10 a.m. –2 p.m. with a lovely selection of summer clothing to choose from.  Residents are welcome to invite their friends to come and browse as well.

Tuesday, July 15th we are off in The Waterford bus to the Town of Tottenham where we will enjoy a picnic lunch at the Tottenham Conservation Area and then head across to board the Tottenham Steam Train for a 50 minute ride through the countryside.  This is definitely a highlight of the month and a not-to-be-missed excursion!

July Birthday Celebrations for our residents are on the 16th this month.  We hope that friends and family members of residents celebrating this month will come and join us at 2 p.m. when popular musician Bob Cook will be here to entertain.  Of course there will be delicious birthday cake for all!

A woman can never have too much jewelry… or purses… or scarves for that matter…so whether you are a woman and want to treat yourself, or you are a man who wants to buy a gift for a woman, do stop by the Activity Room on Thursday, July 17th between 2 & 4 pm.   Jenna Westernerg, a student from the Georgian College  Jewelry Design Program will have a lovely collection to choose from.  As usual we would welcome family, friends and seniors from the community to drop by as well.

Saturday, July 19th at 7 p.m. put on your Poodle Skirt, dust off your saddle shoes and bring a dime for the Juke Box  ‘cuz we’re having an old-fashioned “Sock Hop”!  Get ready to twist and shout, and do come and join us for a “Soda” or a “Float” at the Diner between dances.  Popular entertainer James Cormier will provide the 50’s music.  We would love to have family and friends join us for this fun-filled evening.  Be sure to dress the part - it is guaranteed to be Great Fun on a Saturday Night!

Tuesday, July 22nd at 2 pm we again host our monthly Seniors Community Progressive Euchre Party.  As usual we invite all seniors in the community to come and join in.  It is always an enjoyable afternoon of cards and camaraderie.

That same evening we will be going to Georgian Downs to enjoy a Buffet Dinner and an evening of horseracing… a busy day to be sure!

You are invited for “ Afternoon Tea”…
Please join us in The Library for Afternoon Tea on Thursday, July 24th at 2 p.m.  Seniors in the community are most welcome to come and share a cup of tea, meet new friends and nibble on all the delights Chef Ruth has created for us.  Classical guitarist Darlene Johnstone will entertain.

Last but far from least, don’t miss our trip on the Waterford Bus to picturesque Port Severn, for a waterfront lunch at The Inn at Christie’s Mill on Tuesday, July 29th.  We will dine in Twiggs Dining Room and enjoy the panoramic view of the shimmering Gloucester Pool and the surrounding woods – truly spectacular!

If any of the above events are of interest to you, please do not hesitate to contact Noreen Pauzé, our General Manager, or Kathy our Receptionist, at 792-2442 to learn more about each event and to confirm your attendance if you are able to join us. We would welcome your company. Good times with good friends is food for the soul! We sincerely hope that if any of our activities interest you, you will call and join us at The Waterford. We would love to have you as our guest.
